Roland Van Campenhout is a living legend, archetype for an almost extinct breed of artists - that of the sound magician, firmly rooted in blues and folk, at the same time open to pretty much all genres, whether they are called ethno, jazz or psychedelic. As a teenager - inspired by author Jack Kerouac's beatnik classic "On The Road" as a philosophy of life - he belonged to a skiffle combo. From the end of the 1960s, the man with the catweazle beard turned increasingly to the blues, played for a time in Rory Gallagher's band, and from 2000 there were collaborations with the much younger Belgian crossover interpreters such as Sioen. 

With Somewhere In The Mountains a new live album is released on 2CDs + DVD or alternatively on 2LPs + DVD + booklet. The album offers on the first sound carrier recordings of the Kitchen Recording Series, which also includes a songbook; on CD 2 or LP 2 a concert recording from the theater Der Keller in Cologne. The DVD presents excerpts from various concerts of recent years in the same theater.

Roland Van Campenhout

Roland Van Campenhout ist eine lebende Legende, Archetypus für eine fast ausgestorbene Sorte von Künstlern - der des Sound-Magiers, fest im Blues und Folk verwurzelt, gleichzeitig offen für ziemlich alle Genres, ob die nun Ethno, Jazz oder Psychedelic genannt werden. Als Jugendlicher - von Autor Jack Kerouacs Beatnik-Klassiker ‘‘On The Road‘‘ als Lebensphilosophie inspiriert - gehörte er einer Skiffle-Combo an. Ab Ende der 1960er wandte der Mann mit dem Catweazle-Bart sich verstärkt dem Blues zu, spielte eine Zeit lang in der Band von Rory Gallagher, ab 2000 gab es Kooperationen mit den wesentlich jüngeren belgischen Crossover-Interpreten wie zum Beispiel Sioen.
