Roland Van Campenhout ist eine lebende Legende, Archetypus für eine fast ausgestorbene Sorte von Künstlern - der des Sound-Magiers, fest im Blues und Folk verwurzelt, gleichzeitig offen für ziemlich alle Genres, ob die nun Ethno, Jazz oder Psychedelic genannt werden. Als Jugendlicher - von Autor Jack Kerouacs Beatnik-Klassiker ‘‘On The Road‘‘ als Lebensphilosophie inspiriert - gehörte er einer Skiffle-Combo an. Ab Ende der 1960er wandte der Mann mit dem Catweazle-Bart sich verstärkt dem Blues zu, spielte eine Zeit lang in der Band von Rory Gallagher, ab 2000 gab es Kooperationen mit den wesentlich jüngeren belgischen Crossover-Interpreten wie zum Beispiel Sioen.
