Influenced early on by Billie Holiday, Django Reinhardt, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong, Valente developed remarkable stylistic authority in jazz at a young age.

A key moment came in 1953 with her audition for Kurt Edelhagen and his renowned orchestra. A series of recordings followed, showcasing her command of jazz standards such as I Get A Kick Out Of You, Stormy Weather, and Mack the Knife. From 1955 onward, her musical path repeatedly crossed with Chet Baker—on stage and in the studio.

Valente’s voice and guitar, Baker’s trumpet, and Edelhagen’s orchestra create an intimate, elegant jazz atmosphere.
