Hey CD fans—you didn’t really think we were gonna leave you, er, hanging!? Here, on a two-CD set, is The Complete Ghoul-lection, featuring all five Frankie Stein and His Ghouls albums: Introducing Frankie Stein and His Ghouls, Shock! Terror! Fear!, Ghoul Music, Monster Melodies, and Monster Sounds and Dance Music. Joe Marchese’s liner notes explore the birth of the ghoul with the president of Peter Pan, Donald Kasen. One final “twist” in our Frankie Stein reissue series!

After years of visiting graveyards, combing haunted houses and following (heh heh) dead ends, we finally tracked down the rights to the legendary Frankie Stein and His Ghouls series!

Why did we risk life and limb and our livelihood to find these records? Well, for starters, longtime Real Goners know we love these '60s horror rock campaigns - like our earlier macabre forays into the Zacherle, Munsters and Groovie Goolies franchises. But there's something special about these Frankie Stein and his Ghouls records. You wouldn't think that Halloween records released by a subsidiary (Power Records) of a label specializing in children (Peter Pan Records) would be so...uh...soulful, but these records are definitely the most exceptional of their kind. And maybe there's a reason for that.... Namely, it has been revealed that the Power label has recruited some very, very interesting musicians for some of its projects.

For example, the 1966 album Batman and Robin by The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale was produced by Tom Wilson, who has produced Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground and the Mothers of Invention - and the band included free jazz legend Sun Ra and members of The Blues Project! This has led to all sorts of speculation about who Frankie Stein and His Ghouls actually were; names that have been mentioned include guitarist Duane Eddy, jazz saxophonist Max Greger and, yes, Sun Ra and the Blues Project. Be that as it may, get ready for frenetic rock-and-twist workouts, replete with maniacal screams and harrowing sound effects.
