Martha Spencer's first album, Out in La La Land, opens with an interstellar swing straight out of honky-tonk space and segues into a classic boot-stomping shuffle with yodel-like vocals straight from the mountaintops of Appalachia.
All of the songs on the album were written by Martha Spencer, with the exception of the cover versions of “Tomorrow is a Long Time” by Bob Dylan and “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” by Dolly Parton.
Out in La La Land was recorded at Sidekick Sound Studios in Nashville, TN, and features a cast of legendary session musicians including Lillie Mae Rische (harmony vocals), Jay Weaver (bass), Chris Scruggs (steel guitar), Mark Thornton (electric guitar) and several others who add their talents to Spencer's throwback country sound.
