Two fiddle legends whose childhood memories date back to just after the Civil War: Ambrose ("Uncle Am") Stuart and Allen Sisson (born in 1853 and 1873, respectively). Our CD includes all of their recordings - Uncle Am's 14 Vocalion recordings from July 1924 and the 10 tracks Sisson recorded for Edison in February 1925. A nice run-through of many classic tunes like Cumberland Gap, Old Liza Jane and Sourwood Mountain. Both were influential - and continue to influence fiddle players to this day. Reportedly, it was listening to Uncle Am's Grey Eagle that led Roy Acuff to learn to play the fiddle.
