Metamodern Sounds In Country Music” is Sturgill Simpson's second album and follows his recently released European debut ‘High Top Mountain’, which was enthusiastically received by the critics.

Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Lindi Ortega, Jamey Johnson ) is once again the producer on “Metamodern Sounds In Country Music”. The album was recorded live in Cobb's LCS Studio in Nashville by Simpson and his band after they had just returned from a two-month tour of America.

You can clearly hear how well the musicians harmonize together - or as Simpson himself puts it: “4 guys, 4 days and 4 reels of tape”. The album title is a kind of tribute to Ray Charles - and the first track, “Turtles All The Way Down”, is an allusion to the explorer of psychedelic drugs, Rick Strassman.

Sturgill Simpson's own words on “Metamodern Sounds In Country Music”: “Countless secular offerings - religion, drugs and more - all claim to be the universal truth. But in my experience, love is the only certainty. That's what this album is about.”
