In 2017, In 1967, the guitarist and songwriter John Renbourn founded the British folk rock band Pentangle together with Bert Jansch. Like Jansch, Renbourn was considered an outstanding representative of British 'folk baroque' and fingerpicking playing techniques. With Pentangle, Renbourn successfully recorded several albums for the well-known British folk-rock label Transatlantic from 1968 onwards. After the album 'Solomon's Seal' in 1973, the band members went their separate ways. Bert Jansch and John Renbourn went solo. Albums like 'The Lady And The Unicorn' and 'The Hermit' by John Renbourn are still regarded as milestones of British folk rock in the style of 'Folk Baroque'. In 1977, John then founded the John Renbourn Group, recorded two studio albums and a live album with them and was busy touring again. This Radio Bremen recording from 1978 from the Römer in Bremen bears witness to these live activities. Back again: former Pentangle singer Jaqui McShee. Multi-instrumentalist Tony Roberts, the well-known Indian tabla player Keshav Sathe (among others John Mayer, Julie Felix) as well as the American cellist Sandy Spencer (among others members of the Prog. Folkrockers Mormos, later also with the well-known Trevor Watts String Ensemble) completed the line-up of the John Renbourn Group on this evening in Bremen.
