Natalino Otto was born as Natale Codognotto on 24.12.1912 in Cogoleto, Italy. At first he worked as a tailor. He took music lessons and played in various bands in Genoa. Later, Natalino Otto signed on transatlantic liners, where he played as the drummer of the ship's band. There he came into contact with American jazz, which was to shape his vocal style. After returning to Italy, Natalino Otto sang in various orchestras.

In 1953 he participated for the first time in the Festival di San Remo, which made him known nationwide. In total, Natalino Otto participated in the San Remo Festival five times.

Natalino Otto released numerous successful records from the 1940s to the 1960s and even founded his own record company.
