Teenage Dixie is a collection of stories with an eccentric undertone set in the southern states. Some are autobiographical, some are from history books, and some are fables about real people there. The pictures are painted with symbols and ideas that you only stumble across if you grew up in the “Deep South”. The album is meant to give the listener access to the atmosphere of the Heart of Dixie that prevails there. Stories of love, its endings and its beginnings, in which the Southern landscape and a young adolescent serve as vehicles to give the listener an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Stories told by a grandson of a man who is larger than life. Themes of revenge and violence by way of a notorious gangster and a family feud that dates back to the Civil War. Despite this heavy and dark subject matter, the underlying tone of the album is exciting and entertaining. The album is full of energy, but also has its share of the mid-tempo sound that our fans have loved in the past. This album is another step in the direction of solidifying our identity as songwriters and artists.
