Scandinavia's most popular garage blues and low down boogie quartet, The Kokomo Kings, presents its fifth studio album, “Turbomouth,” on CD in a digisleeve and on vinyl LP on Rhythm Bomb.
With four albums and numerous acclaimed live shows to their name, the Swedish quartet led by songwriter and bassist Magnus Langhammar has quickly earned itself exceptional status on the European scene: young and old alike can immediately relate to the crunchy analog and outrageously groovy two-and-a-half-minute tracks, which draw their drive from the essence of 1940s rhythm and blues, boogie, and simple rock ‘n’ roll, immediately appeal to young and old alike, while the band's cool, humorous, and subtly stylish performance instantly captivates any passing audience.
Even the departure of longtime lead guitarist Ronni Busack-Boysen, a multi-award-winning blues guitarist in his native Denmark, did not detract from the band's success, with his successor Jonas Holmberg filling the gap with flying colors. Of course, the eleven new songs on “Turbomouth” are once again absolute hits in a class of their own, presented in a dreamlike analog vintage lo-fi sound. This ambitious band is saving decades of music history from gathering dust in a museum!

The Kokomo Kings

Nimm einen großen Eimer ungeschliffenen Mississippi Juke Joint Boogie und mische ihn mit einem weiteren Eimer entspannten Down Home Blues. Füge eine Teetasse Swamp Pop, einen Esslöffel Hillbilly und ein Pfund profanes, ekstatisches Evangelium hinzu und du wirst die Kokomo Kings bekommen. Es ist bloße, primitive, groovige Samstag-Nacht-Musik zum Tanzen.

Die Band ist eine Zusammenarbeit von einigen absoluten Top-Musikern aus Schweden und Dänemark. Nach Jahren als Begleitmusiker für einer langen Liste internationaler Blues-Künstler wie James Harman, Mud Morganfield, Big Jack Johnson, Lazy Lester, Louisiana Red, John Primer, Big Joe Louis, Keith Dunn, Rusty Zinn und so weiter, sowie das Spielen in einer Reihe von skandinavischen Bands wie The Instigators, The Domestic Bumblebees, Paul & The Blue Delivery, Peter Nande Band und vielen anderen, beschlossen sie, eine neue Band zu gründen und ihr eigenes Ding zu machen.

So taten sie sich im Frühjahr 2012 zusammen, um die erste 45rpm Vinyl-Single "Artificial Natural" aufzunehmen. Es lief gut, und viele sagten, es sei eine der besten Aufnahmen seit Jahren! Im Oktober 2013 veröffentlichten sie dann das Album "Artificial Natural", das große Resonanz erhielt. Viele Blues- und Rock´n´Roll-Fans behaupteten, dass es das erste Mal seit vielen Jahren war, dass sie ein Blues-Album vom ersten bis zum letzten Song hörten und jede Sekunde davon liebten!

Im Oktober 2015 veröffentlichte die italienische Plattenfirma "Turkish Records" ihren neuen Angler-Song "The River Turned to Steam" auf Vinyl. 2016 verliess Harmonica Sam die Band und Martin Abrahamsson trat der band an Gesang und Gitarre bei. Sam wird weiterhin mit der Band bei besonderen Anlässen auftreten. Im Frühjahr 2017 erschien ihr zweites Album "Too good to stay away from". Die Ameripolitan Music Awards in Memphis nominierten die Kokomo-Kings zur besten Rockabilly-Band 2018.
