Kelly Family Ein Familienunternehmen der besonderen Art: 1966 verlassen Barbara Ann und Dan(iel) Kelly mit ihren Kindern ihre Heimat, die USA, und lassen sich in Spanien nieder. Was als Spaß beginnt, wird bald zum Broterwerb: die Familie singt fortan auf Volks- und Straßenfesten folkloristische Lieder. Zehn Jahre später bereist die Kelly Family singender Weise Italien und zieht dann durch ganz Europa. Von 1979 bis 1981 ist ihr fester Wohnsitz in Amsterdam. In dieser Zeit entsteht auch der erste Kontakt zu Polydor in Hamburg. Das Single-Debüt der Kellys heißt "Danny". Es folgt 1980 "Who'll come with me (David's Song)", das der Familie einen Nummer-1-Hit in den Niederlanden und Belgien sowie den Einstieg in die Top Twenty der deutschen Charts (HP 15) beschert. Als die Mutter 1982 an Brustkrebs stirbt, machen der Vater und die Kinder weiter. Sie beziehen auf einem Hausboot im Kölner Rheinhafen Quartier. Unvermutet zündet die Kelly Family 1994 (auf eigenem Label) eine Rakete mit der Single "Angel" und Album "Over The Hump". Angeheizt durch Berichte im Teenager-Magazin Bravo feiern die Kellys Triumphe vor allem bei der Jugend.
