In 2018, Sem and his band, consisting of the members of the Leif de Leeuw band, went into the studio. At this time, it was not yet clear whether the album would ever be finished and supplemented with his current voice. The testosterone treatment that Sem would start just after the recordings could ensure that his voice was no longer suitable for singing.

More than 4 years later, the band returned to the studio. They had two more band members, had a singer with a voice that had dropped an octave and were completely ready to complete this fantastic project.

On the album, Sem tells the story of his transition in a way that is accessible to everyone. Topics covered include:
How does a grandmother with dementia react to the change? What is it like to become an uncle for the first time? What if people don't accept you?

Sem's band consists of the musicians of the Leif de Leeuw band in which Sem has been the lead singer since 2011. They were an important part of Sem's transition and they too have undergone a transformation for this record. The Southern Rock makes way for small Americana songs and the electric guitars have been replaced by acoustic guitars, mandolin and pedal steel guitar.
