Jan James started her career in Detroit, where she sang along to every record she could get. Thanks to church choir and playing in a few bands, the stage was her new home. Teaming up with Craig Calvert, guitarist in a local punk band, the two joined forces to form the blues and rock a billy band The Flying Tigers.

Influenced by Billie Holiday and Muddy Waters, Aretha Franklin and Led Zeppelin, they developed their own style. Their creative partnership with Craig Calvert is a decade-long exploration of roots music of all kinds - rock'n'roll, soul, country and, of course, the blues. Her debut album in 1995, with which she also gained notoriety in Europe, was followed by twelve more records. In recent years, Jan has dominated the business as one of Chicago's best-known female voices, known for her ability to master very different styles of music from hard rock to deep blues. In Time Bomb, Jan and Craig weave universal themes with something more immediate and personal, inspired by the present day. Their upbeat rock/blues is exceptionally radio-friendly and very stylishly executed. With her powerful voice, she conveys the message of hope and happiness on her new album.
