Freshly awarded the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Music for her first opera, "Omar," Rhiannon Giddens will release her third studio album in August 2023.The new album from the Grammy Award-winning singer, composer and instrumentalist is also her first to feature exclusively original songs.

When Rhiannon Giddens released her last album "Freedom Highway" in 2017, the critics literally rolled over. And it is to be expected that it will not be different with "You're the One". The 12 songs, written over the course of her career so far, are bursting with life-affirming energy and make an exciting sonic transition from the folk music that Giddens knows and masters like no other to the poppier sounds that characterize the genre today. The album was produced by Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Solange, Alicia Keys, Valerie June, Tank and the Bangas) and recorded at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami. Also in the studio: a band of some of Gidden's closest musical creative partners of the past decade, musicians from Splash's own phone book, and a horn section - an impressive ten- to twelve-piece ensemble that provides the album's rich sound.

For the work on "You're the One," Giddens teamed up with some of her closest musical companions of the past decade, including her life partner, Italian multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi, also multi-instrumentalist Dirk Powell, bassist Jason Sypher and Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu.
