The Flamin' Groovies Jumpin' In the Night (CD)

Dated 1979, 'Jumpin' In The Night' was the third and last album by Flamin' Groovies on the Sire Records label: a beautiful record that, continuing in the pop vein of 'Shake Some Action' and 'Now', strengthened the instrumental fabric with a guitaristic 'wall of sound' that, more than in its predecessor, took advantage of the presence of the newcomer Mike Wilhelm next to the leader Cyril Jordan and Chris Wilson.

The new remastering by the Liberation Hall allows you to better appreciate a collection in which a handful of solid original compositions including the muscular title track is coupled with energetic reinterpretations of pages of the beloved Byrds (three of them): It Won't Be Wrong' the final '5D' and 'Ladyfriend'), the Beatles ('Please Please Me'), Dylan ('Absolutely Sweet Marie'), Warren Zevon (an excellent 'Werewolves Of London') and the lesser-known Trevor Burton Band ('Down Down Down Down').
