Only two years after her celebrated album "The Medicine Show" Melissa Etheridge already presents a new longplayer in 2021: "One Way Out" is the 16th album of the US singer-songwriter and rock musician in 33 years.

She has recorded seven new songs for it, although new only applies to a limited extent. For in fact, these are pieces that emerged from her song sketches from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Etheridge stumbled across these old demos a few years ago while collecting material for a box set.
As she went through the songs, she recalled the beginning of her career and how they just didn't fit the time or album at the time.

In 2013, the singer found herself at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with her original band, consisting of Fritz Lewak, John Shanks and Kevin McCormick, and wanted to give the songs a new life. Shortly after the recordings were completed, she parted ways with her label and the box set was put on hold. Melissa began working on new material and the songs were also put aside again. Until now.

"I think it's really exciting to present these songs to my fans. Even after all these years, they move me so much, and I can't wait to finally play these songs live," said Etheridge, who celebrated her 60th birthday in May.

To get her fans in the mood for upcoming concerts, "One Way Out" also features the two live songs "You Have No Idea" and "Life Goes On," which were recorded at the Roxy in Los Angeles in 2002.

With the title song and the track "For The Last Time" Melissa Etheridge already presented a few listening impressions of "One Way Out" in May and July - a new album, which at the same time gives an insight into her work from back then.
