Years before hip hop, reggae was the original microphone + turntable form of music. Return of the Rub-A-Dub Style, directed by veteran music video director Steve Hanft (Beck, Primal Scream, Blind Boys of Alabama) looks at the history and influence of this music through interviews with legendary Jamaican stars like U-Roy, King Stitt, Scientist and more. Also interviewed are the DJ's and fans at LA's famous Dub Club, where this music has found a home outside of Jamaica. 

The heart of the film is the performances, the best moments from years of shows at the Dub Club. A crackling vinyl 45 spins on the turntable, giant speakers rumble, and over a heavy bass driven rhythm an echoed voice chants conscious lyrics...explosive clips from legends such as Sister Nancy, Sugar Minott , Ranking Joe, and many more put you right in the middle of a red hot sound system session. Many classic original reggae tunes were licensed for use in this film , and the sound quality is excellent. So drop this DVD in your player and when it's done ,rewind mi selector!!!
