Elvin Bishop's musical biography is no secret to anyone who is interested in blues or rock music. In the early 60s he was under the tutelage of the renowned Chicago bluesman Little Smokey Smothers, explored new musical frontiers as a founding member of the original Paul Butterfield Blues Band in their pioneering years; scored a Top 10 hit - Fooled Around And Fell In Love - in the 70s. Bishop is a true legend for decades. On his way he has established his place, playing an appealing mix of rootsy rock & roll, R & B and Barroom Boogie, penetrated by the heavy blues he learned from Little Smokey.

With Can not Even Do Wrong Right, he presents us with a masterpiece of exuberant blues and R & B, traversed by Elvin's stinging guitar and presented with an undeniable spirit to the rough good times. Seitdem Rock & Roll und Blues Hall Of Famer Elvin Bishop 1965 zum ersten Mal mit der Paul Butterfield Blues Band auftraten, hat er seinen eigenen musikalischen Weg eingeschlagen. Ob er nun rohen, augenzwinkernden Blues spielte, den immergrünen Radio-Hit Fooled Around And Fell In Love schrieb oder jahrzehntelang durch die Welt tourte und seinen originalen, gut gelaunten Blues lieferte, Bishop hat seine Fans stets mit seinem rüpelhaften Gitarrenspiel und seinen witzigen Slice-of-Life-Songs inspiriert. Rolling Stone nennt Bishop "einen legendären Gitarristen", dessen Spiel "tadellos und temperamentvoll....ein angesehener amerikanischer Spieler" ist.

Ende 2015 gründete Elvin Bishop das Big Fun Trio, mit Bishop an Gitarre und Gesang, und seinen Freunden Bob Welsh an Klavier und Gitarre und Willy Jordan an Cajón (einer handgemachten peruanischen Drumbox) und Gesang. Nachdem sie nur eine Handvoll Live-Dates gespielt hatten, eroberte die Gruppe mit ihrer Musik und ihrer unbestreitbaren Chemie die Blueswelt im Sturm. Mit der Veröffentlichung ihrer selbstbetitelten CD im Jahr 2017 war die Resonanz der Medien und Fans sofort und überwältigend. DownBeat zelebrierte Bishops "verbale Hijinks, hervorragende Gitarrenarbeit und Freundlichkeit der Country-Boys". OffBeat sagte, das Big Fun Trio sei "kompliziert, funky und erhebend" und erklärte sie zu "durchweg großartig". Mit seiner erstklassigen Musikalität und seinem Front-Porch-Vibe wurde das Album für den Grammy Award nominiert und gewann die Blues Music Awards für Album Of The Year und Song Of The Year (für den Titeltrack) der Blues Foundation.

Das Big Fun Trio entdeckte schnell, je mehr sie live spielten, desto mehr Spaß hatten sie beim gemeinsamen Musizieren. Eine Folgeaufnahme war also eine einfache Entscheidung. Das neue Album Something Smells Funky 'Round Here, findet die Gruppe furchtlos auf der Strecke. Elvin: "Bei einem Trio gibt es keinen Platz zum Verstecken, man muss alles, was man hat, direkt vor die Nase schütten. Du musst die ganze Zeit damit beschäftigt sein. Es ist wirklich cool zu sehen, wie die Leute auf das Gefühl der Musik reagieren."
