A real treasure trove! An unreleased live recording from 1975, recorded in the studio by the original members of the Beau Brummels, is finally being released on CD. Half of the songs are from the WB album era of 1975, three are from the 1960s, and three are new compositions that have never appeared on any of the band's albums. Notes by Sal Valentino. The album was made possible thanks to the invaluable assistance of Alec Palao, renowned expert on the 1960s and producer.

"The Beau Brummels"

The Beau Brummels wurden 1964 in San Francisco gegründet, aufgenommen für Tom Donahue's Herbstlabel, Sal Valentino, Ron Elliott, Ron Meagher, John Peterson und Declan Mulligan (die die Gruppe früh verließen und später auf Schadenersatz klagen, nachdem sie groß geworden waren). Sowohl "Laugh Laugh" als auch der Nachfolger "Just A Little" (beide produziert von Sly Stone) waren Anfang 1965 Top Twenty Hits mit einem Searchers-ähnlichen Sound, der dazu führte, dass die Gruppe als "America's answer to the British Invasion" bezeichnet wurde.

Sie verwendeten 12-saitige Gitarre, sanfte Har-monies, klagende Mundharmonika und Moll-Key-Melodien, um einen eindringlichen Sound zu erzeugen, der wiederum die Byrds und den Folk-Rock hervorbrachte. Obwohl in dieser Hinsicht eine wegweisende Gruppe, waren ihre Follow-ups in den nächsten drei Jahren (auf Autumn und War-ner Bros.) nur kleine Erfolge. Nach ihrer Trennung Ende 1968 machte Valentino Soloalben und gründete dann Stoneground. Elliott hatte eine Gruppe namens Pan und machte auch ein Soloalbum. 1974 formierten sich die Beau Brummels neu, mit einem neuen Album (4-75) auf Warner Bros., nur um sich 1975 aufzulösen.
