 “Götz Alsmann ... by night ...” is a humorous and melancholy collection of 18 exquisite gems from the history of pop music, which Götz Alsmann has rearranged and transformed into atmospheric jazz chansons. And because it's not only at night that people don't like to be alone, Götz has brought in eight fantastic guests for his 18th album - Daniel Hope, Roland Kaiser, Yvonne Catterfeld, Nils Landgren, Till Brönner, Frank Chastenier, the Zucchini Sistaz and the Swonderful Quartet.

Melancholy as well as cheerful pieces make for an exquisite mixture, such as the Beatles song “Yesterday” in the German version “Gestern noch (feat. Daniel Hope)”.
There are songs by Greetje Kauffeld, whom he has known personally for 20 years, Margot Hielscher, whose “Nachtlied” now appears on a record for the first time, or the great Hildegard Knef, whose song “In dieser Stadt” he sings as a duet with Roland Kaiser.

However, the actual album theme “at night” only crystallized when looking through the selected songs such as “Die Nacht, die Musik und dein Mund”, “Nachts sind die Straßen so leer” or “Tränen um Mitternacht”.

The guests on “Götz Alsmann ... bei Nacht ...” have accompanied the Münster music professor for many years on various occasions such as tours, TV shows and galas. But never before has there been an album in his career where so many guests from different genres have come together.

Although not in one night, Götz Alsmann recorded the album with his band and the various guests in just nine days at the legendary b-sharp studio in Berlin. Grammy-winning sound engineer, producer and studio owner Philipp Nedel, whose employees have even been nominated for a Grammy, was also involved. Also the musical all-rounder Christoph Israel, who already accompanied Götz Alsmann on his last album production.

It will be humorous in any case, “I take my work incredibly seriously, I don't take myself as seriously as many people think. Humor is that you don't stop at yourself.”

So it is already certain whether Götz Alsmann by day or “Götz Alsmann ... by night ...": with him, every time of day becomes a musical highlight.
