Jazz Christmas with Götz Alsmann

It is the most successful record in Götz Alsmann's career so far: the Christmas CD Winterwunderwelt, released in 2006. With Winterwunderwelt Vol. 2, the long-awaited sequel is finally released.

Almost 10 years ago, the musician and entertainer had already re-released some of the most beautiful traditional winter and Christmas songs as well as German and American hits of this genre with the WDR Big Band, under the guise of jazz. He continues this concept with Winterwunderwelt Vol. 2.

Together with jazz musician and composer Ansgar Striepens, Alsmann selected 16 more or less well-known Christmas hits for it, which he says were simply missing from the predecessor. Further selection criteria for the songs were the presence of singable German texts also with originally American songs as well as otherwise the possibility of writing new texts for the songs themselves, because on "Winterwunderwelt Vol. 2" all songs are sung in German. If the songs then also had the potential to be arranged together with the Big Band of the WDR as a relaxed jazz version, they made it onto the album.

Included are the traditional Schneeflöckchen, Weißröckchen, Oh Tannenbaum and O du fröhliche or the Christmas classics Weiße Weihnacht (White Christmas) and Lass es schnei'n (Let It Snow).

With "Winterwunderwelt Vol. 2", Götz Alsmann and the WDR Big Band succeed for the second time in getting us fully in the mood for the festive season with a mixture of Christmas classics and hits in jazz style.
