Art Blakey is regarded as one of the pioneers of the modern bebop style on the drums. Known as a powerful musician and a master of rousing grooves, his bluesy, funky hard bop has had – and continues to have – a profound influence on mainstream jazz. For over 30 years, his band ‘Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers’ featured many young musicians who went on to become prominent figures in jazz.

The album ‘A Night In Tunisia’, released in the late 1950s, is a jazz milestone and a prime example of Blakey’s extraordinary rhythmic skill. However, this album is not all about the drumming; it leaves plenty of room for superb melodic interplay between the other musicians: Sam Dockery on piano, John Griffin and Ferris Benda on saxophone, Bill Hardman on trumpet and Jimmy De Brest on double bass.

‘A Night In Tunisia’ is available as a limited edition of 1,500 individually numbered copies on orange vinyl, presented in a deluxe sleeve with a linen-laminate finish.
