With "Over-Nite Sensation", one of the absolute classics in Frank Zappa's rich catalog celebrates its 50th birthday this year.

Thanks to its rocking orientation and clear songs, the album became the introduction to the Zappa world for many fans. Here the musical direction of "The Mothers" changed, as Frank took over most of the vocals and was the only guitarist. It was a new band and a new sound, but it didn't scare away the "old" Zappa fans. As a result, "Over-Nite Sensation" became the band's first real hit album in the USA, entered the charts and was finally awarded a gold record in 1976.

Even 50 years later, the album is still one of the highlights in the Zappa catalog and an absolute perennial favorite with fans.

This "50th Anniversary" 4CD & Blu-ray box set contains the 2012 remaster of the album with bonus tracks from the original 1973 sessions, as well as live recordings of concerts from the Hollywood Palladium, LA and Cobo Hall, Detroit from 1973. The Blu-ray contains the album remixed in Dolby Atmos & 5.1, Zappa's original Quadraphonic mix, the 192 / 24 & 96 / 24 stereo remaster from 2012 and the packaging includes unseen photos and new liner notes by Mark Smotroff and Joe Travers.
