Featuring 85 tracks, this outstanding collection includes the legendary singer's critically acclaimed five albums released by Warner Brothers between 1972 and 1977.

Four of the albums are expanded with a total of 24 bonus tracks, including single edits and rarities.

There are also 16 additional bonus tracks, included for the first time on a compilation disc, all of which contain recordings she made with various producers outside of the albums in 1973 and 1974. You Are A Song is named after one of the seven tracks from the sessions with producer Tony Camillo and marks the first official CD release from Warner Music Group. Also included is a previously unreleased extended version of "We Need To Go Back," produced by Ashford & Simpson.

Sure Thing captures Dionne's numerous recordings for Warner Brothers, serving as an often overlooked but musically satisfying bridge between her stunning decade of classic hits with Scepter Records in the '60s and the 20-plus years covered on "Déjà Vu: The Arista Recordings," a 12-CD box set from SoulMusic Records.

Key tracks and highlights include "Then Came You," Dionne's 1974 chart-topping hit duet with The Spinners, and "Just As Long As We Have Love," the popular B-side single; "You're Gonna Need Me" from the Holland-Dozier-Holland produced LP, "Just Being Myself" sampled by global hitmaker Usher on 2004's "Throwback," a rare 12" special disco mix of the Thom Bell-produced "Once You Hit The Road," and the rare groove favorite "Move Me No Mountain" from Dionne's recording with Jerry Ragovoy.

Assembled and co-produced for SoulMusic Records by label founder David Nathan and Joe Marchese of The Second Disc, this beautifully crafted set includes Marcheses extensive, career-spanning liner notes with quotes from previously unpublished interviews with Dionne, Burt Bacharach, Thom Bell and Brian Holland; a running sessionography; stunning artwork by John Sellards (including the cover for 'You Are The Song') and excellent mastering by Nick Robbins from digital sources provided by Warner Brothers.

Geboren am 12. 12. 1940 als Marie Dionne Warrick in East Orange, New Jersey (USA). Sang schon als Kind mit der Gospelgruppe The Drinkards, studierte später am Hart College Offviusic in Hartford, Connecticut. Formierte das Trio The Gospelaires mit ihrer Schwester Dee Dee und ihrer Tante Cissy Houston (geb. Emily Drinkard und Mutter von Whitney Houston). Dionne Warwick und Dee Dee arbeiteten auch als Backing-Sängerinnen in New York für die Drifters, die Shirelles und Chuck Jackson. Komponist Burt Bacharach und sein Texter Hal David wurden auf Dionne aufmerksam.

1962 erhielten alle drei einen Kooperationsvertrag beim Scepter-Label. Zwei Jahre später wurde Bacharach Warwicks Manager und musikalischer Direktor, ihr Repertoire bestand fast ausschließlich aus Bacharach - David-Songs. Von 1962 bis 1987 legte Warwick in den USA eine Hit-Strecke von 57 Titeln hin- ihre erste Nr. 1 ( - 'Then Came You', mit den Spinners) ließ allerdings bis 1974 auf sich warten, der zweite (und bis dato letzte) Spitzenreiter folgte erst 13 Jahre später, 'That's What Friends Are For'. Ihre erfolgreichste Filmmusik war das Titellied zu 'Valley Of The Dolls' (1968).

1974 wechselte Warwick zu Warner Brothers, hängte ihrem Nachnamen ein 'e' an, um dies schon im Jahr darauf wieder rückgängig zu machen. Für ihre vielfältigen Aktivitäten auf dem karitativen Sektor erhielt Dionne Warwick diverse Auszeichnungen.

“Rent-A-Cop' (dto., USA, 1986),
