This compilation focuses on the kind of Latin soul records recorded by Nuyoricans in a very short period at the end of the 1960s, before they were swept away by the wave of salsa's golden years. The recordings were heavily influenced by the street corner harmony records of the late 1950s, particularly Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, which included two Latinos.
