T-Bone Walker Essential T-Bone Walker Collection (CD)

This double album is aptly named as it contains most of the best recordings from T-Bone's heyday. The first CD includes tracks from his Capitol and Black & White days, including his best-known song “Call It Stormy Monday” and other classics, accompanied by Los Angeles' finest musicians. Disc Two is the best of his Imperial period, which B. B. King says were his greatest sources of inspiration, mostly accompanied by the warm horns of Maxwell Davis, who later took over the same function for B. B. later on. The remastering is fantastic; this material has never sounded so clear. You can hear every single instrument, which is not easy with recordings from the late 40s and early 50s. The liner notes are literary and informative and very comprehensive. The photos in the booklet are great too!
