Various The Best Of Teenage Records (LP)

Step back into the world of classic rock’n’roll and doo-wop with Various Artists – The Best Of Teenage Records (LP 1). Bringing together recordings by the Baltineers, the Montereys, the Demens and the Isley Brothers, this compilation offers a varied selection of early vocal-group sounds, romantic ballads and rhythmic rock’n’roll numbers.

The Baltineers open the set with “Moments Like This”, “New Love”, “Tears In My Eyes” and “Joe's Calypso”. The Montereys contribute “Someone Like You” and “Train Whistle Blues”, two recordings that were already featured in contemporary music coverage in 1956. The Demens are represented by four tracks, including “Take Me As I Am” and “You Broke My Heart”. The Isley Brothers complete the selection with “Angles Cried” and “The Cow Jumped Over The Moon”.

For collectors and fans of early American vocal-group music, this LP offers an appealing look at the range of material associated with Teenage Records. A worthwhile addition for anyone drawn to the harmonies, melodies and rhythmic energy of classic doo-wop and rock’n’roll.
