The Eurovision Song Contest has be held every year since 1956. Germany has only managed to win the world's biggest song contest once, with Nicole's Ein bißchen Frieden in 1982. German entries came second on four occasions, but many of them landed near the bottom of the heap.

Locked out of the Eurovision Hall of Fame, with its 46 German entries, are the songs that didn't make it past the national finals. This CD gathers Eurovision songs that, although they failed to get an international airing, quite often went on to outstrip the success of the songs that did.
