Joe Meek’s Tea Chest Tapes – Death Discs (10inch LP)

“Death Discs” explores a particularly unusual side of British pop history as part of the “Joe Meek’s Tea Chest Tapes” series. The focus is on so-called death discs – dramatic songs built around stories of death, disaster and tragic fate.

The recordings come from the legendary musical world surrounding British producer Joe Meek. His productions were distinguished by unusual sonic ideas, experimental studio techniques and an immediately recognisable sound. The “Tea Chest Tapes” now provide another fascinating glimpse into this extraordinary archive.

Released as a 10-inch vinyl LP, “Death Discs” is particularly interesting for Joe Meek collectors and enthusiasts of obscure British pop and rock ’n’ roll recordings.
