The 20-minute jam session, called only "Blues," which spans the entire length of the A-side, offers a whole series of motivational interjections right off the bat. But also the "Modern Set", in which Gillespie and Young duel musically, has a lot to offer in this respect.

"Blues In Chicago 1955" is an essential contemporary document of JATP history in particular and the development of jazz in general.
More than 30 years after the first release on CD, it was long overdue to release it again on a valuable 180g vinyl plus download code.
