The Teen Queens: Teen Queens (LP)

(Kent Records) 12 tracks

Eddie My Love is a fine collection of recordings by The Teen Queens, the Los Angeles sister duo Betty and Rosie Collins. Naturally, the centerpiece is their classic “Eddie My Love”, one of the memorable teenage ballads of the early rock’n’roll era.

The Teen Queens recorded “Eddie My Love” for RPM Records in late 1955. Written by Aaron Collins and collaborators, the song became their biggest success in 1956, reaching No. 14 on the U.S. pop chart and No. 2 on the R&B chart. The success established the sisters as one of the notable female vocal acts of the early rock’n’roll period.

The Kent KLP 2024 LP contains twelve tracks, including “Eddie My Love”, “So All Alone”, “Rock Everybody”, “Baby Mine”, “Let's Kiss”, “My Heart's Desire”, “Billy Boy”, “Just Goofed”, “Teen Age Idol”, “Zig Zag”, “Riding” and “I Ain't Gonna Tell”.

The music combines the infectious qualities of Doo Wop and vocal-group harmony with Rhythm & Blues and early rock’n’roll. The youthful vocals, catchy melodies and unmistakable sound of the mid-1950s make these recordings particularly attractive to fans of the classic American vocal-group era.

For collectors of Doo Wop, rock’n’roll and early Rhythm & Blues, Eddie My Love offers a fascinating glimpse into the early days of the genre and shows that The Teen Queens had more to offer than their famous signature hit alone.
