A love story

Love is at the very beginning of the Tedeschi Trucks Band story. In 1999, at a concert opening for the Allman Brothers Band, American singer and guitarist Susan Tedeschi met Derek Trucks, then guitarist for the Allmans. The two married in 2001 and also merged their respective solo bands in 2010 to form the Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Already with their first album "Revelator", the Tedeschi Trucks Band wins the coveted Grammy Trophy for Best Blues Album in 2012. Even then, the band consisted of eleven people and flanked the band leaders' soulful guitar playing with brass and keyboards, among other things.

Three more studio albums and various live recordings followed, further cementing the Tedeschi Trucks Band's reputation as one of the most playful bands on the current blues rock and Americana scene. The best proof of this is the live recording "Layla Revisited", which documents the Tedeschi Trucks Band's one-off performance of the Derek & The Dominos album "Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs" at the Lockn' Festival in the summer of 2019. Backing the band at the time was Trey Anastasio of Phish.

But then the pandemic hit and concerts were out of the question until further notice. Instead, the Tedeschi Trucks Band retreated to their studio in Jacksonville, Florida and worked out and recorded their multi-part opus magnum "I Am The Moon". The cycle comprises a proud 24 new songs, spread over four independent albums. Thematically, "I Am The Moon" is inspired by a 12th century Sufi narrative poem called "Leila and Madschnun". The story of two unhappy lovers, obsession and isolation also served in parts as a model for Eric Clapton's "Layla".

Since the beginning of June, the Tedeschi Trucks Band has been releasing a new part of their musical tale every four weeks, the last act of which, "I Am The Moon: IV. Farewell" is now imminent.

All four parts of "I Am The Moon" are available on CD and, from 09.09.2022, also on 180 gram vinyl in black.
