Gov't Mule are a southern rock band formed in 1994 as a side project of the Allman Brothers Band by Warren Haynes and Allen Woody. This album is their self-titled debut, originally released in 1995. The atmosphere of the album resembles that of a carefree jam session.
In fact, the album was recorded live in the studio; many of the tracks segue into one another. “Mule” is still celebrated live and “Rocking Horse” was later recorded by the Allman Brothers Band when Warren Haynes returned to the fold for the album “Hittin' The Note”.
