Ray Stevens, Multiinstrumentalist, Sänger, Komponist, Arrangeur und Produzent, war in der Country Szene bisher fast genauso erfolgreich wie im Pop Bereich. Er benutzt gerne zeitgenössische Kompositionen wie auch ältere Standardtitel, arrangiert sie neu und interpretiert sie auf seine ureigene, humorvolle Art. Am erfolgreichsten war er immer mit seinen eigenen skurrilen Nummern, die sich meist am Zeitgeschehen orientieren. Neben Kinky Friedman und Shel Silverstein zählt Ray Stevens zu den wenigen bissigen Spaßmachern des Genres.
