The album was recorded at Dave Cobb's Falling Rock Studio in Nashville and at the legendary Hillbilly Central Studio, where greats such as Waylon Jennings and Tompall Glaser have recorded various albums.

With the help of renowned musicians, including pianist Hargus “Pig” Robbins and steel guitarist Robby Turner, Sturgill Simpson has created a timeless and multi-faceted work. His love of bluegrass and country paired with strong songwriting and lyrical openness has already catapulted Simpson into the premier league of American country musicians.
