Future Nostalgia was produced by lead singer and songwriter Ewan Currie, along with Matt Ross-Sprang (Sun Studios Memphis). The 18 refreshing tracks were recorded in the serene and idyllic setting of Stony Lake, Ontario.

The new album has many different timbres and impressively shows the band's potential when left completely to their own devices. The spectrum ranges from the catchy, signature The Sheepdogs single Downtown to the introspective, soulful groove of Bad Lieutenant to Help Us All, which breathes fresh air into a vintage vibe, not the least of which is a trombone solo by Ewan's brother Shamus. Other highlights include the laid-back, good-humored backyard jam Same Old Feeling and the album's five closing songs, which blend into one another to form a cohesive medley, much as the band practiced on their debut album Learn and Burn.
