Immensely sensual and stirring, Udo Schild is considered one of the best soul/jazz singers in his country. Schild's specialty is his perfectly mastered way of capturing the emotional exceptional state of life - love and loss, sadness, depression and the highest feelings of happiness - and transforming them lyrically and musically in such a way that the resulting songs can almost be said to have a therapeutic effect.

Millions know his deep soul voice from the cinema success Traumschiff Surprise. There, under the pseudonym "Barry Tenderloin," he sang the soul ballad "Let's Make A Baby." On this extraordinary WDR live recording from the Cologne Philharmonic Hall in 1999, he is accompanied by the Unplugged Jazzband, consisting of Xaver Fischer - piano, Volker Heinze - bass, Bert Smaak - drums, Roland Peil - percussion, Ansgar Buchholz - vibraphone, Claudius Valk - saxophones, Michael Heupel - flute.
