The first complete 3CD anthology of the '60s recordings of Britain's leading harmony pop singer Tony Rivers.

It includes all his studio recordings as leader of The Castaways and Harmony Grass, plus 80 minutes of previously unreleased BBC session recordings from the same period.

Even though other fellows had greater commercial success, Tony Rivers was certainly the key figure of the British harmony pop scene in the 1960s.

As bandleader of The Castaways, he recorded a string of excellent singles before scoring a hit with the irresistible "Move In A Little Closer Baby" in 1969, shortly after the band reformed as Harmony Grass.

But the follow-up singles failed to repeat the trick, and after the excellent album "This Is Us" was ignored, Tony left the band to take a background role in the industry. In the meantime, he recorded several pseudonymous singles that contributed to his hiring as leader of Cliff Richards Vocal Harmony Trio in 1975.

"Move In A Little Closer" is the first-ever complete anthology of Tony's exemplary studio work with The Castaways and Harmony Grass, including a number of tracks that were unreleased at the time, as well as an entire CD of previously unreleased BBC sessions recorded with both bands.

The final 3CD set in a lavish digipak package includes a new 6,000-word essay on Tony's early career, which includes recollections of his relationships with managers Brian Epstein and Robert Stigwood and his encounters with rock greats such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and his chief inspirers, the Beach Boys. This anthology concludes with "Collaborations (2011-2021)" on CD6, a new compilation featuring his work on two studio albums and a live album with Live Fire; "Faster", "Trouble" and "Live Fire Live!!!" featuring the amazing guitar playing Ken Ingwersen loved so much. CD6 ends with two tracks from his last album, "My Book of Answers," featuring his collaboration with Vladimir Emelin.

With the death of Ken Hensley in November 2020, the music world has lost not only a great, multi-talented musician and changeable artist, but also a highly respected songwriter.
