Subtitle: “Si Kahn's Songs of Courage and Resistance” Phoebe is now 31 years old and her life has been strongly influenced by music. Her mother worked in a music store and bought her clarinet, concertina, accordion, recorder and ocarina at home. Phoebe grew up listening to Schubert, Bob Dylan and traditional Bolivian dance music; she worked in a community arts project in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and as a volunteer director of a choir for poor children in Mumbai, India. Phoebe was also inspired by various Celtic, English and American folk traditions, lived and played music in the Scottish Highlands, studied classical viola in Edinburgh and became increasingly and passionately involved in social justice. It was no surprise that legendary longtime organist, American musician and brilliant songwriter Si Kahn was so impressed with her recording of his Mississippi Summer that he invited her to record her first full album to celebrate his 80th birthday and continue his music long after his death. Recorded and mixed at Studio Doornenburg in the Netherlands, Bring In The Light features 14 tracks of Si's beautiful songs, enhanced by Pheobe's assured voice, her viola, violin and piano; Janos Koolen accompanies her on banjo, guitar, accordion and bodhràn; Lucas Beukers can be heard on acoustic bass and Sophie Hanna harmonizes on vocals.
