18-year-old Elvis records the song 'My Happiness' in the Sun Studios in Memphis. He pays four dollars for it and gives it to his mother for her birthday. Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Records, brings Elvis into the studio and records the song 'That's Alright (Mama)' with him. The song is played on all radio stations. The sudden fame hits Elvis completely unexpectedly, the girls adore him and he is confronted with all the dark sides of fame and success.
The series in 13 episodes tells the story of Elvis' early years (1954 to 1958). The series was co-produced by his ex-wife Priscilla Beaulieu Presley.
