Gene Parsons’ debut solo album *Kindling* from 1973, recorded between his time with the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers, is a country rock and bluegrass classic, featuring his friend and former Byrds bandmate Clarence White on several tracks. Parsons demonstrates his versatility on guitar, banjo, pedal steel guitar, harmonica, bass, and drums.

Peter Doggett, the acclaimed author of “Are You Ready For The Country,” wrote the liner notes for this box set and describes “Kindling” as “a rousing collection of bluegrass and country-inspired songs on which its star demonstrates dazzling virtuosity across multiple instruments.”

This 5-CD box set also includes Parsons’ second solo album, “Melodies,” from 1979; the live recording “I Hope They Let Us In,” which spans his entire career and features versions of the Byrds classics “Gunga Din” and “Bugler,” as well as a series of largely unreleased studio recordings from the 1980s that were intended for his third solo album, and fantastic live recordings of the Gene Parsons Band.
