Known for their unforgettable hooks, the band tackles more mature themes without losing their optimistic spirit, exploring life's ups and downs with honesty and heart. From the opener “Making Good Time,” with its phased pre-chorus and stormy drums, which transitions from youthful passion for life to acknowledging the purity of growing up and its influence on our personality development, the album, produced by Shane McAnally/Old Dominion, attempts to understand how life and love can rise and fall. It's the euphoria that a certain kind of free-spirited woman can evoke in “Break Your Mama's Heart,” the rhythmic philosophy of what it all means in “Water My Flowers,” and the elegy for a good friend in “Miss You Man.” “The special thing about this crazy career is that so many incredible things have happened, but also so much life has happened,” says lead singer Matthew Ramsey. "We've lost people, closed chapters, people have fallen in love, and of course there have been health challenges. When we write for Old Dominion, especially this time around, we bring more of ourselves to the table. These are our songs, so they should come from our lives. You don't necessarily realize it while you're writing, but when we listened to these 13 songs, it became clear to all of us: This is our most personal album ever."
