(Bluebeat Music) 10 tracks - digisleeve

With “Everybody’s Gettin’ Some”, American blues singer and harmonica player R.J. Mischo returns in 2026 with a powerful new album full of authentic electric blues. At the heart of the record is Mischo’s distinctive harmonica sound and expressive vocals, backed by an outstanding group of musicians. Joining him are guitarist Christoffer “Kid” Andersen, Bob Welsh on keyboards and guitar, Kedar Roy on upright and electric bass, and June Core on drums. Blues harmonica master Mark Hummel makes a special guest appearance on “Burning Bridges”.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Kid Andersen at Greaseland in San Jose, California, a studio closely associated with the contemporary West Coast blues scene. The production gives the songs a warm, powerful and organic sound while keeping the focus firmly on Mischo’s vocals, harmonica and songwriting.

“Everybody’s Gettin’ Some” features ten tracks, including the title song, “California Burning”, “Gulf of Mexico”, “Hawaiian Eye”, “Tossing Pebbles”, “Burning Bridges”, “Jealous Hearted Fool” and “Twin Cities Blues”. According to the album credits, eight of the songs were written by R.J. Mischo, while “Keep Your Friends Close” was written by Logan Davis and “Hawaiian Eye” by Jerry Livingston.

R.J. Mischo has been an important figure in the American blues scene for decades. Originally connected with the Minneapolis blues community, he developed a reputation as a powerful vocalist, songwriter and harmonica player with extensive stage experience. His music combines the traditions of classic electric blues with a contemporary approach and the energy of a seasoned live performer.

“Everybody’s Gettin’ Some” is a strong statement from an experienced blues artist, bringing together expressive harmonica, soulful vocals, driving guitar work and a superb rhythm section. A highly enjoyable album for anyone who appreciates authentic electric blues, great musicianship and a modern production with deep roots in the blues tradition.
