They were unique in the world of folk/country music. The McGarrigle sisters were a legendary folk duo whose harmonies were second to none. Their harmony singing is delicate and beautiful and their songs, some of them in French, are full of longing and sometimes filled with bittersweet sadness. The McGarrigle Sisters' music is almost unbearably haunting. The backing band on this debut album includes Lowell George, Bobby Keys, Steve GaddandTony Levin as well as family members and friends such as Loudon Wainwright III. The album was voted “Rock Album of the Year” by Melody Maker. “Complainte Pour Ste Catherine” was released as a single.
