Malo has his signature beautiful voice throughout the album and has altered the arrangements of the songs just enough to showcase his interpretive skills.
Malo recorded “After Hours” live in the studio with almost no overdubs, as he felt this approach was best suited to capture the raw, intimate feel of his favorite albums from the 50s and 60s. On the album, he plays guitar and sings, accompanied by his band: Robert Chevrier on piano, Jay Weaver on bass, Tom Lewis on drums and multi-instrumentalist Jim Hoke, who adds saxophone, clarinet and steel guitar to the recordings.
The new album is Raul's third solo album and follows the huge success of his 2006 album “You're Only Lonely”, which featured romantic standards. He is widely known as the frontman of the platinum-selling, Grammy-winning band The Mavericks.
