"Willie Mabon"

Willie Mabon,

ein Sänger und Pianist, der am 24. Oktober 1925 in Memphis geboren wurde, war zwischen 1952 und 1954 eine große Präsenz in den R & B-Charts. Seine Hits für Schach schlossen 'I Do not Know' (ursprünglich auf Papagei) 'I ein "Mad" und "Poison Ivy". Die ersten beiden erreichten die Top Ten. Er hatte zuvor für Apollo als Big Willie aufgenommen. Ein langsamer und anspruchsvoller Darsteller war Mabons Gesang lakonisch und trocken und lehnte sich mehr auf den urbanen Blues der Westküste als der Stil der Chicagoer Musiker, mit denen er oft arbeitete.

Sein "Got To Have Some" wurde auf Sue in Großbritannien veröffentlicht und wurde in das Repertoire der weißen R & B-Performer, wie Georgie Fame, in den frühen Sechziger Jahren aufgenommen. Mabons ökonomisches Blues-Piano und gelegentliches Harmonikaspiel - auch auf nachfolgenden Aufzeichnungen für Delta, Mad, Formal und USA - hört nun das Publikum in Frankreich, wo er mehrere Alben geschnitten hat.
