John Leyton,

geborener John Dudley Leyton in Frinton, Essex, am 17. Februar 1939, war ein weiterer Schauspieler, der sich durch Zufall zum Singen gewandt hatte. Er spielte Ginger in der ATV Biggles-Serie und dann Johnny St. Cyr in einer weiteren TV-Serie, Harper's West One, wo er seine erste Chance bekam, "Johnny Remember Me" zu singen und der 1961 zum Erfolgsrekord führte Produziert von Joe Meek und zeigte einen Echoeffekt, der die Unzulänglichkeiten von Leytons Stimme verdeckte.

Seine anderen Platten waren alle bemerkenswert ähnlich und die Öffentlichkeit schnell müde von ihm. Geschrieben von Geoff, Goddard, waren sie "Wild Wind", "Son That Is She" und "Lonely City" im Jahr 1962. Er kehrte später zum Schauspiel und erschien in The Great Escape (1963), Von Ryan's Express (1965) und Krakatoa (1968). Möglicherweise war sein einziger dauernder Anspruch auf Ruhm, dass er einer der ersten Künstler war, die von Robert Stigwood behandelt wurden, um später sein Vermögen als Produzent von Jesus Christus Superstar und Besitzer von RSO-Aufzeichnungen zu finden.
