This girlie band from California is truly a ''cool number'' with a decent push reverb in the guitar amps, which gives their sixties-influenced sound a nuance of surf rock and sometimes seems to look back into the wild seventies. 

Los Angeles is often described as the dream factory, enchanting orange sunsets framed by smog, hippy spiritualists meeting stingy narcissists, palm avenues courting commuters with colorful billboards. Against this background the four members of La Luz singer/guitarist Shana Cleveland, drummer Marian Li Pino, keyboarder Alice Sandahl and bassist Lena Simon - have finished their third studio album Floating Features.  

La Luz looked at both physiological and psychological landscapes and repeatedly encountered the concept of dreams. Loose Teeth, for example, processes the material of nightmares and lets honey-sweet melodies collide with distorted surf guitars reminiscent of Takeshi Terauchi. Mean Dream processes the imagery of California's Dream States, while the melody and lyrics for Walking Into The Sun came to Shana in a night of deep sleep. Queen of the many grotesque figures on the album (giant cicadas, a horrible creature, the Sun King, aliens and the lonely dozer) is the great Greed Machine, an insatiable consumer apparatus. Only La Luz create the atmosphere of ''Leone on LSD'' so holistically. With floating features the band is on the absolute level! Golden rebels in a golden dream!
