Doc Hopkins

Doc Hopkins (1899-1988) was a smooth singing mainstay of Chicago radio during the 1930s and '40s, joining John Lair's troop that became the Cumberland Ridge Runners on the WLS Barn Dance. Hopkins was closest in voice quality to Bradley Kincaid, and was just as accomplished a guitarist. Mother The Queen Of My Heart was written by Hoyt 'Slim' Bryant, a guitar-playing member of Clayton McMichen's Georgia Wildcats. The song is very similar to Rock All Our Babies To Sleep, which was recorded on the same day, by Rodgers, in August 1932.
